Junior Engineer called Miss Aggie begging her to make “that stuff” while she’s visiting. Pink stuff is a strawberry version of Orange Tapioca Salad. Here’s my recipe:
PINK STUFF
Ingredients:
2 C. Water
1Pkg. (3oz) Strawberry Jello (Wild Strawberry or Strawberry/Banana are my favorites)
1Pkg. (3.4oz) Instant Vanilla Pudding (I use French Vanilla)
1Pkg. (3oz) cook and serve Tapioca Pudding mix
1 Pkg. (15oz) Frozen Strawberries, thawed
1 carton (8oz) Cool Whip, thawed
Preparation: estimated time: 20 minutes
In a saucepan, bring water to a boil.
Whisk in jello and pudding mixes.
Return to a boil, stirring constantly; boil for 1 minute.
Remove from heat and let thicken.
Fold in straberries and Cool whip.
Spoon into serving bowl, cover and refrigerate for 2 hours.
serves 4 to 6

Typically we have the youth group come out to our house on the 4th to set off fireworks. Around here only those who live in unincorporated areas lie we do can set off fireworks. Since Miss Aggie’s birthday is on the 2nd we usually combine the two. Miss Aggie decided to have her party on the 12th. The youth guy had made arrangements to have the fireworks at another place. Last week the plans changed for the youth party. The Geeks offered to have the party at our place on July 2 so the youth could go to other fireworks displays.
Texas State called today to update us on his plans to come visit next week. We didn’t hear from Miss Aggie, but we don’t expect to until she heads for home on Sunday.
So today the Geek and I went to Best Buy twice to listen to a couple of bands. One of the Bathrobe Boys/Guys is the drummer in a band. They were scheduled to play from 11 AM to 1 PM. Then After the Ashes (formerly Vertical) was to play from 1to 4 or so. We got to Best Buy to find that the first band was packing up. They played all of their music twice. Ooops. After the Ashes time was changed from 3 to 6. We went back at three and listen to them play for a couple of hours. Quite fun!!
The Geek decided that we needed to go watch our town’s official fireworks display. We loaded our camp chairs into the pack of the Geeks pickup and found a place to park off the freeway. I think the Geek enjoyed watching the show instead of being in charge of setting off the fireworks. It was a lovely display and a nice change from our usual July 4 event.

MIss Aggie and Elk rolled in around midnight on Saturday. Elk wasn’t needed the 5th week of camp so he was more than happy to stay home.
The phone calls and text messages began Sunday afternoon. Junior Engineer misses his Miss Aggie. Miss Aggie is excited that she gets to go visit him over the weekend. She’s currently at a beauty school having a spa treatment.
Yesterday Miss Aggie and I went to look for her costume for the murder mystery. She decided to wear a medieval style dress. I’m working on the test outfit. Per usual I’m adjusting the shoulders, bust and hips. I think I have the shoulders and chest worked out. Now I need to make a sleeve as I’m concerned the upper arm will be too tight. I might as well go cut that out and start sewing it. *sigh* Anyone want to place 22 eyelets?

When the cat’s away, the mice will play shop. Today SuperChicK and Kutless’s new releases came out. I went to Mardel’s where each CD was on sale for $9.99. I had a $10.00 Martel’s gift card so the total for both CD’s came to $11.63!!! Not bad! Then I went to Target to buy a wedding gift.
I had planned to buy the new Sims2 stuff pack but Target won’t get it until Thursday. Wal-Mart didn’t have it either. After I orient the new nurse to day camp nursing, I’ll swing by Best Buy to see if they have it. Maybe I should call first. Hmmmm. Maybe Circuit City will have it on sale next week.
Oh, yes, I bought 4 frozen dinners, yogurt, and Warm Delights Minis Molten Chocolate Cake. I read on a cruise forum that they were similar to Carnival’s Warm Melting Cakes. Galen and I will check that out when he gets back from his business trip.

Miss Aggie applied for a RA position last semester. She was disappointed that she wasn’t offered a job. She was very happy to room with one of her new friends this fall. The end of May she was called by the housing office to see if she was still wanting a position. She would start August 10. She specifically told them that her summer school class ended August 14. She asked if they would work with her. In June she was offered a RA position. She called crying Friday night because she wasn’t allowed to take the position as she couldn’t get her training done. Why in the world would they offer her a position when she told them she couldn’t come until later? Apparently the community college where she’s taking her class is the only one in the area that has classes until August 14. The rest finish the week before. I guess we should have looked into the community college south of here.

The one thing that irritates me more than anything else is family members not telling me when I need to buy certain types of food. Today was a perfect example. Last night Tru posted on my facebook wall that I needed to make her pancakes. Since I don’t do a good job flipping pancakes, I offered to make waffles instead. That sounded so good I decided to fix waffles for lunch. There was one problem–no eggs. Since I have a mild allergy to eggs, I only use them in baking. Miss Aggie is our egg eater. Apparently she forgot to tell me she used the all the eggs again. I’d smack her except she is still working at camp.

We decided to go to have a sit down meal for breakfast. We noticed Bathrobe Guy 2 eating breakfast with his young lady and her family. We found out later she was 15. Too bad for Bathrobe Guy 2. The lunch buffet was the chocolate buffet. It was nice. Later on we ladies went to tea. The rest of the time was spent reading, doing crossword puzzles and of course, sleeping. The last show featured passengers who auditioned for parts. Most were bad except for the the guys who were Garth Brooks and Elvis.

Most of our group went to the beach to either jet ski or swim. The Geek and I finished up our shopping, then went back to the ship. I went sat out on the deck, read, and listened to my music. The Geek took a long nap. Later on I went to the spa to have have a mini massage. It was a nice relaxing day.
Bathrobe Guy #2 decided to serenade the girl at the table next to us. He convinced his buddies to join him. The young lady was flattered. The tables around us clapped after the performance was done.

As usual, I loved Grand Cayman. We went on an excursion to swim with the stingrays. Our boat took us to the sand dunes where the stingrays have been hand feed for generations. We jumped out of the boat to about 3 feet of water. I was wondering where the stingrays were when I felt something brush against my calf. I almost jumped out of the water when I saw the stingray. It was much bigger than I thought it would be. Singer took one look and tried to climb on Coach’s head. Soccergirl was climbing up Singer’s back. Rho 2 decided that the Geek’s shoulders looked very inviting. I was doing my best not to scream hysterically. Once the stingrays moved away from the boat, Singer did her imitation of running on top of the water. She and Rho 2 stayed in the boat for a good while. All of our group except for Rho 2 held and kissed a stingray. Another young man from our boat remarked “This is the most action I’ve gotten on the cruise.”
After the stingrays, our boat took us snorkeling. By us I mean everyone but me. I’m a poor swimmer at best so I choose to watch the rest of the group. They went to two different parts of the reef. We listened to CD’s of the Barefoot Man to and from the dock. The wind was blowing in the right direction so we were able to sail back to the port.

This was my second trip to Jamaica. I was tempted to stay on the ship, but Texas State wanted a Jamaican tee shirt. The rest of our group just wanted to visit Margaritaville. No problem…
We jumped on board the local “bus”. The guide was bound and determined that we were going to go shopping at her “stores.” As we zoomed by Margaritaville, she said in astonishment, “Oh, look, it’s opened early.” Right. It was rather creepy to go into a store and the people lock the door behind you. I bought 4 tee shirts and two containers of Blue Mountain coffee as gifts.
Finally the bus dropped us off at Margaritaville. I sat in the shade and did crossword puzzles while the moms and kids played on the water slide and trampoline. I don’t swim well, so I knew not to go into the water.
